A young man who turned 18 just four months ago is facing a first-degree murder charge following a fatal stabbing in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.
Ahmed Raza, a resident of the Cartierville section of the borough, appeared before a judge at the Montreal courthouse Tuesday morning where he was charged with the first-degree murder of 19-year-old Aly Abdelaziz, a resident of the St-Laurent borough.
On Monday, Montreal police officers on patrol found Abdelaziz lying injured on a sidewalk on de l’Acadie Blvd., near the intersection of de Salaberry St., around 12:30 a.m. Despite having been stabbed, he was conscious and, according to a police spokesperson, provided officers with information about his assailant.
Fifteen minutes later, Raza showed up at a hospital with a stab wound to his upper body. He was questioned by police and was placed under arrest at the hospital.
Abdelaziz was taken to a hospital where he arrived in critical condition, but he died hours later.
